About Me

The Red Caboose Story

About Me

If you stop by my home long enough, chances are we'll end up talking about old trains.

My love of railroads began with my dad, who worked for the Nickel Plate Road. He passed away when I was only six years old, but I still treasure his old railroad lantern. It reminds me every day of the history, craftsmanship, and hardworking people who helped build this country.

Before Red Caboose Candles, I spent many years as a beekeeper and started making candles from beeswax. They were beautiful, but I wanted a stronger fragrance, so I began experimenting. After plenty of trial and error, I found the soy wax blend I use today. Every candle is hand-poured in small batches using phthalate-free fragrance oils, toxin-free ingredients, and a crackling wood wick for a clean, cozy burn.

The railroad theme came from searching for a gift for a friend who worked on the railroad. Beyond the usual coffee mugs and souvenirs, there wasn't much to choose from. That's when it hit me—railroad folks deserve something better than another coffee cup.

So I combined two things I love: candle making and railroad history.

Every Red Caboose Candle is my way of honoring the great steam locomotives, the railroads that shaped America, and the people who kept them rolling. I hope each one brings a little warmth, a little nostalgia, and a smile every time you light it.

Welcome aboard.
