The Red Caboose Story
Railroading has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My father worked for the Nickel Plate Road, and although he became ill and passed away when I was only six years old, he left behind something that would inspire a lifelong passion. One of the treasures I inherited was his old railroad lantern, a cherished keepsake that I have since passed on to my son, John.
That lantern sparked an interest in trains that grew into a love of railroad history and the steam locomotives that once ruled America's rails. Today, John and I are both dedicated railfans who enjoy learning about railroads, visiting museums, and watching these historic machines whenever we have the opportunity.
For many years, I have been making candles and selling them at local markets and events. As my candle-making experience grew, so did my desire to combine my passion for railroading with my love of creating handcrafted products.
